Cannabis Topicals
Today’s topicals at Fishkill
Loading the live Fishkill menu…
Topicals are cannabis-infused balms, lotions, oils, and patches you apply to your skin. Most are used to target a specific area, and standard topicals generally don't produce an intoxicating high, making them the most approachable category for the cannabis-curious.
The exception is the transdermal patch, which is designed to carry cannabinoids into the bloodstream and can be intoxicating. Read the label, and ask us which is which if you're unsure.
What sits on the topicals shelf
Topicals get their own low shelf, and it is grouped by format so the jars are easy to sort through by eye. Balms and salves in tins run first. Lotions and creams in tubes and pump bottles come next. Oils and roll-ons fill a shorter row, and patches sit at the end in their own labeled section, kept separate on purpose. Everything comes from a licensed New York producer. Shelf tags name the maker, the format, and the scent if there is one. This is the shelf cannabis-curious first-timers stop at most, so we keep it near the front where it is easy to browse.
Where the Farm Hands come in
Topicals are the category people are most likely to be shopping for somebody else, so the questions at this counter tend to be about the product rather than about cannabis. Our Farm Hands answer them the same either way. They will tell you which jars are unscented, which makers work with a heavier base and which a lighter one, and which items on the shelf are patches rather than balms. If a label is not clear, they will read it with you instead of guessing. There is no wrong question at this shelf, and nobody is going to make you feel new for asking one.
An easy farm stand stop, any season
This shelf gets busiest at the turn of the seasons, when the whole valley is either out in the cold or out in the sun. Both stores are easy stops on the way to the rest of your day. The Fishkill farm stand is just off Route 9 near the I-84 interchange, minutes from Beacon. The Barn in New Paltz sits at Thruway Exit 18 with parking out front and a 360 virtual tour on its page if you want to see the room before you drive over. Both open every day of the year at 8AM.
Cannabis Topicals questions, answered
Will a topical get me high?
Standard topicals (balms, lotions) act locally on the skin and generally don't produce a high. Transdermal patches are the exception, they're designed to reach the bloodstream and can be intoxicating.
What kinds of topicals do you carry?
Balms and salves in tins, lotions and creams in tubes and pump bottles, oils, roll-ons, and a separate labeled section of patches, all from licensed New York producers. The lineup rotates, so check the live menu at the top of this page for today's New York stock.
Are topicals a good shelf to start with if cannabis is new to me?
Plenty of first-time shoppers start here, and the shelf sits near the front for that reason. Come visit either store, tell a Farm Hand it is your first stop in a cannabis dispensary, and they will walk the shelf with you at your own pace.
