Farmers Choice is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
What we do
- Semantic, keyboard-navigable HTML with visible focus states.
- Color combinations checked for sufficient contrast.
- Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences.
- Clear, labeled forms and controls.
How we check this site
Accessibility is checked as part of the same review that catches broken links and content problems, not as a one-time audit that gets filed away. That covers keyboard navigation through every interactive element, contrast ratios on the dark palette this site uses, alternative text on images that carry meaning, and heading order on every page template. Templates get checked once and then apply across the pages built from them, so a fix to the town page template fixes all twenty two town pages at once.
Third-party content
Our online ordering menu is provided by Dutchie, a third-party service embedded on our shop pages. We don’t control its interface, but if you have trouble ordering online, call the store and our team will gladly take your order by phone.
Other ways to shop if the site is hard to use
Nothing on this website is the only way to reach us. A Farm Hand can take your whole order over the phone, answer questions about anything on the shelf, and have it bagged and waiting when you arrive. Call the Fishkill farm stand at 845-440-3647 or the New Paltz barn at 845-419-2420 during open hours. Fishkill runs 8AM to 10PM Sunday through Thursday and 8AM to 11PM Friday and Saturday. New Paltz runs 8AM to 10PM every day. You can also text either store from the contact page, or email us and we will reply.
Visiting the stores
Both locations have parking on site, so there is no street parking to manage on arrival. The New Paltz store at 1 Old Route 299 has roughly 35 spaces plus EV charging, and the Fishkill store at 18 Westage Drive has parking directly at the entrance. Service animals are welcome at both stores.
If you have a specific access need, whether that is help getting through the door, someone to bring products to you rather than walking the floor, a quieter time of day, or anything else, call the store ahead of your visit and we will make arrangements. We would rather you ask than assume. Mornings are the quietest hours at both stores if you would prefer fewer people around.
What we are still working on
We would rather be honest than claim a clean bill of health. The embedded ordering menu is the weakest part of this site for assistive technology, because we do not control that software. We review the pages we do control on an ongoing basis, and we fix what we find. If something here is broken for you, that is a bug worth reporting, not an inconvenience you should have to work around.
